MY REFLECTIONS

1. Describe your experience in surfing the internet for appropriate electronic resources for the class? Did you find it easy or difficult?

Surfing the internet for the electronic resources to be used in the class is good because new ideas can be searched to deepen the learning and teaching quality and experiences for both teachers and learners.
But because internet gives me huge information from different websites, it would be slightly difficult for me to search for the best electronic resources for the class. It takes a great effort and long patience to search the best information from the internet.

2. How did you choose which electronic resources to include here? What did you consider? Explain.

I choose computer as an electronic resource to include here because when computer has an internet connection, there are many websites that a student to choose from. Likewise, these sites have variety of user-friendly tools helps both teachers and students reach their goals effortlessly.

3. Reflect on your technology skills. What skills do you already have and what skills would you continue to work on to be better at utilizing electronic resources?

I can say that I have enough skills on using computers, smart phones and tablet as one of the learning resources used in schools. I am very much knowledgeable and capable of using these technologies in searching specific topics, interactive games and useful references that I can use for future references.

SLIDESHOW BIZ (Slide Presentations)

My Analysis

What are the good features of a slide presentation?
- A good slide show presentation must be concise, direct to the point and insightful at the same time. It can have transitions and animations to emphasize a point but should not be too much. Its design, lay-out and formatting should be balanced with the concept presented.

Which of these features are present in the slide presentation you made?
- Among the features mentioned above, the slide presentation I made has appropriate transitions and animations, where the format and design is congruent to the concept presented – it does not clutter the slide.

Which features are not present in the slide presentation you made?
- I am afraid that the slide presentation I made is neither short nor concise. Also, the text lay-out that I have made does not follow the rule on “six lines per slide, six words per line.

My Reflections

1. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the slide presentation? How did you overcome them?
- In making the slides, so far, the difficulty I encountered is choosing the information that should appear on the slide, since there is a lot of information being discussed in the reference materials. To overcome them, I read the summarized form of the lesson and from there come up with an outline that would make the preparation of the slide easier.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE (Teaching Aids Bank)

My Analysis

1. Less effort and can save time: - Less effort and can save time because if they are available materials, n need to find them and the flow of discussion will be continues and it can save the time of discussion.

2. It can make the learning of our students be more effective: - If our materials are available, we can say that the learning process is effective. Students can easily get the lesson In the presence of these materials.

3. The flow of the teaching process and learning process of both the students and the teacher is easier: - On the part of the teacher, it is easy for her to discuss her lesson because she can explain it in actual and perform it with the use of these materials. For example, in volleyball, she can easily demonstrate the proper skill on holding the ball or in spiking. Also, on the part of the students, they can easily apply it.

My Reflections

1. Which of the materials did you like making the most? Why?
 - Among those things that have been done in this study, the material that I like most is making this input system. I like typing and thinking what to be written in my content, and what to say all about of what I have been done. These things make my mind work and help me improve my spelling weakness.

2. What difficulties, if any, did you encounter in making the material? How did you overcome them?
 - As I make my instructional materials, one of the difficulties I encounter is the availability of internet connection. I have my laptop but unfortunately my net connection was been cut and I need to go to Internet café for making my blog.

3. What tips can you give teachers reading preparation of teaching materials?
  1. Think about trying the same materials out with different students.
  2. Keep your materials: organize them on your computer & share them with your students
  3. Remember the level of your students: important for the tasks and the instructions.
  4. Open-ended materials can fuel whole lessons.
  5. Materials should be applicable to a real-life context.

BULLETIN BOARD DISPLAYS

An Evaluation Report of a Bulletin Board

  • My Analysis
1.) Did the board display design reflect the likes/interest of its target audience? Why? Why not?

Maybe yes. I think, even if the design was not that beautiful the bulletin board still catches the attention of the student because of the text that is written in the board was very important announcement.

2.) Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand? Why? Why not?

I can say that it’s yes, because I think the main aim of the maker or designer of the board was just to inform student or reader what will happen next and what are the updates was.

3.) What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective?
Why? Why not?

They printed news and updates and I find it very effective to the students that are wanted to be updated always. They have posted what will happen in the month of December and the schedule of their prelim examination, together with the Christmas break and the resume of the classes for the year 2014.

4.) What suggestion can you make?

They have posted nice updates and news on their bulletin board, but they don’t mind the image of it. The maker or designer should think that making some beautification can attract readers to read the text inside of their bulletin board, because even if the message was very important if the design was not that attractive the readers well just ignore it sometimes and don’t mind reading it.
My Proposed Board Display
My Board Display Lay-out

  • My Reflections
1.) Name at least 5 skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with effective board displays. Elaborate why each skills is needed.

  1.  Organizer – teacher must know how to make plans before doing things.
  2. Creative thinker – teacher should think wider to make his work not dull.
  3.  Innovative – teachers must try applying new things in his work.
  4. Prepared – teacher need to be ready in every circumstances that will occurs before and after his work done.
  5. Artistic – teacher must shows imaginative skill in arrangement or execution with his work.

2.) Which of the skills you named in # 1 do you already have? Recall your past experiences in making board displays. How do you practice these skills?

Organizer, I remember during my high school days I was happened an officer of a club organization in our school and I remember that our adviser task me and with one of my co-officer to make our bulletin board beautiful and luckily we did it nice, actually that time our bulletin board won as the most organized and updated bulletin board among other clubs. For now on I am trying to maintain the organize thing in everything that I do, because I believe that making things organize make your work smooth to be done.

3.) Which skills do you still need to develop? What concrete steps will you take on how you can improve on or acquire these skills?

Creative thinker, I am still working on this skill because sometimes my mind doesn't work and it needs someone to rely on what to do. I am trying to be independent when it comes to creating things that needs to be done alone.

The School's Learning Resource Center

·         My Analysis

1.) Where the learning resources/materials arranged properly according to their function and characteristics?

Although, that some of their learning resources center is under renovation, you can still say that it was arranged properly. The school library was conducive for learning. The In-charged told me that they only allow student borrow books until 4 pm. After that, if the book was not return they will charge the student 5 peso per hour. The library is open for all students until 5 in the afternoon, unlike with their other learning resources center the Computer laboratory and the AVR, it's open any time as long as there is a schedule for class.

2.)  Do the guidelines and procedures facilitate easy access to the materials by the teachers? Why? Why not?

Regarding to this matter, the In-charge told me that they can access to those learning resources/materials only if they have a schedule on that day. To get a schedule, the teacher must have a reservation 2 days before they will use it. If the student need to borrow some school materials for a program, they must ask their adviser or teacher to sign a borrower's slip, because the teachers has the only access to those materials cause without their permission they cannot borrow the materials.

3.)   What are the strengths of this Learning Resource Center?

The LRC of the school can be used any time of the day as long as there is a reservation and permission. All books from the library were being updated. They always have an inventory to their resources/materials which is their log book for the borrowers. They manage their resources/materials well and they also make an upgrade on it by renovating some parts to make it more useful to the student's learning.

4.)   What are its weaknesses?

There are things that I had observed that school should be aware on it. The fire exit of their library was at the side of their main door. The computers are not safe during the renovation because they don't cover it. Their AVR only have one door for the entrance and exit, what if that there is a calamity. The library was placed on the 4th floor, what if the school experience tragedy of fire, what will happen to their books, although that they have some 2 fire extinguisher but it will not help if the fire will be so big. The computers are not safe from flood, because it was placed on the first floor, what if that the city experience devastation of flood.

5.)   What suggestions can you make?

The school can change some facilities that they have and make it easier to access.
  1. The library can be moved to the lower part of the school. For me they should transfer it on the second floor.
  2. The computer laboratories can also be in the second or third floor.
  3. They should have another door on their AVR.
The school must aware on this kind of changes so if there will be a disaster the resources/materials will be not on risk.

  • My Reflections

1. Which of the materials in the Learning Resource Center caught your interest the most? Why?

I think the placement of the LCR. The library was placed on the upper part of the school building and the computer laboratories where placed on the first floor. We know that the tragedy don't approach and says that "I am coming! And be ready". The school should place their LRC in some place that is safe. If I was the school and that resource is my life, I must protect them from harm.

2. Which gadgets/materials are you already confident to use/operate?

I think the computer, because I am exposed to this and I am dealing to it every day, but not all the access in the internet that I know because there are things that i am not capable with.

3. Which ones do you feel you need to learn more about?

There were lots of things that should be considered when it's something that is important to teaching. The thing that i want to learn to manipulate is the Video Projector.

  • My Portfolio
Paste an article about an example of technology gadgets/materials that you want to learn more about. How can these gadgets/materials be useful in instruction/teaching?

A Video Projector is an image projector that receives a video signals and a projection screen using a lens system. All video projectors use a very bright light to project the image, and most modern ones can correct any curves, blurriness, and other inconsistencies through manual settings. Video projectors are widely used for many applications such as, conference room presentations, classroom training, home theater and concerts. Projectors are widely used in many schools and other educational settings, sometimes connected to an interactive whiteboard to interactively teach pupils.
